Modifing the Time out

if you have installed both Linux & Windows to your computer you may get trubble with the 10 secs time out. So below I mentioned some steps to modify the time out & what can be done by editing menu.lst in UBUNTU.

go to /boot/grub

there is a file called menu.lst (but you can't edit it here).
copy it and paste to desktop (or somewhere else)

modify the time out in seconds (default is 10 secs)
save it.

then open the terminal and go to the place where the new menu.lst is saved

then type

cp menu.lst /boot/grub

then the new menu.lst replaced the old one automatically.

using this menu.lst file you can change

1. the colour of boot menu
2. the colour of boot text
3. the grub image etc.

try this and have fun with Linux

Installing Nvidia card to Linux

one of main problem in after installing UBUNTU is installing gaphic card driver. if you're using latest Nvidia external graphic card. most of the time the linux driver should be installed. sometimes the .deb s in some repositories might not work. if you haven't got internet connection
there is a way to install Nvidia driver.

first you must download the .run file from Nvdia site which suit to your graphic card(ex: Gforce 8400)

then install all the packages which has 'libc' Header using ubuntu CD (Use Synaptic pakage manager)

then restart the machine go to Recovery mode (second option in the list)

go to the place where the .run file is located.(Use CD command

ex: if the .run file is on the desktop cd /home/user/Desktop)

then run the file (./Nvidia"Drivername is Here")

then continue the installation . (enjoy in linux THANK YOU)
